Crafters Smackdown

Smackdown Girls Thank you for your interest in Crafters Smackdown.
It’s a crafting tournament, sort of like, well, a tournament for crafters. Don’t overthink it, okay?

Once you are registered, you just bring yourself and/or your team to our place at the specified time and we’ll give a briefing before the event begins. You don’t have to bring anything else, except a cheering section and an attitude.
Team competition is from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and individual bouts are from 1 to 2 p.m.

•Teams can be two to four people. Teams are encouraged to wear matching outfits – decorate an apron or T-shirt, think of a team name and really play it up. This is a good chance to promote your business or a worthy cause. Individuals are one person, obviously.
•The tournament goes like this: You are given timed crafting challenges using a variety of materials (which are not revealed until the challenge begins). You and/or your team have a limited time to create something with the materials using spec
ified guidelines.  For example, last year, teams were given five random, out of focus and weird photos and asked to make a scrapbook page with a cohesive theme in 10 minutes.  Or you will be asked to make something useful out of macaroni and a glue gun. Stuff like that.
•All supplies for the competition projects will be provided by us. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE SUPPLIES ALLOWED. You will be frisked or manhandled if we suspect anything.
•The judges have the final word. They do accept bribes. Cash, baked goods, favors and massages are especially popular.
•Under no circumstances will the details of the competition projects be disclosed before the event. You will have to rely on your strengths and mental agility and make things up as you go. Show us what you got!
•Admission is free for your friends to the Smackdown and Craft Fair by the Anchorage Craft Mafia. The Make-It/Take-It areas and concessions cost $5. Deal with it.
•If you have any questions, call as soon as you can (337-1672 or 441-6222). Calling the day of the event will probably not yield much result.
Remember, this is supposed to be fun!
